Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
I hope you all enjoyed my last (a.k.a. my first) blog post! Since it's Halloween today, here are a few last minute costume inspirations that are still beautiful, tasteful and easy to achieve. Enjoy xx

#1 Lydia Deetz
Winona forever! We all remember and love Winona Ryder's character in Beetlejuice as the teenager who feels isolated and misunderstood, sounds familiar? She's the ultimate goth girl and undeniably my spirit animal. To achieve her look, find your favorite black ensemble preferably with a black long skirt, a black cardigan, tights, a black wide brimmed hat and even a leather jacket to toughen it up. Easy right? Now for the beauty. Who can forget the BANGS? If you don't already have full blunt bangs, get yourself a clip-in pair and use styling gel to piece a few strands together into sections. The goal is to make them look like they're separated, piece by piece. Her staple jet black hair can be achieved with some temporary dye or if you're really running late, whip out that colored hair spray! Her makeup embodied the "dead girl" look, but her eyes were definitely accentuated in true Winona style. Use a muted color like a soft grey to contour the upper portion of the eyelid to enhance the shape and shade underneath the eye with the same shade to exaggerate the dead look. Don't forget to tell your friends "my whole life is a dark room" and you are set!

#2 Mathilda from Leon: The Professional
She's adorable yet feisty. Natalie Portman's portrayal as the brave young girl who seeks revenge for the death of her family gave the thriller spunk and heart. Mathilda's entire look is rather easy to achieve. If you don't already have Mathilda's adorable hairstyle, just use a wig! Her makeup was really natural, but if you're really up for it, add some scarring and bruising on the face as shown by the second image. Her outfit is fairly simple and can be brought to life using items that you already have lying about in your wardrobe. Time to go wardrobe shopping. All you need is a red striped crop top, a pair of black shorts and an army green jacket. Combat boots and a little rabbit stuffed animal complete the look. Finally, that iconic choker can be bought or made with a charm that's added on to a black ribbon and voila! Now, about Leon...

#3 Twiggy
She was the it-girl of the 60's and for good reason. Twiggy embodied London's mod movement with her short dresses, exaggerated lashes and of course that amazing pixie cut. I think this idea is by far the easiest to achieve! To get started, find yourself a solid colored mini dress. If you're not really a dress girl, have no fear! Just wear a solid colored pair of shorts (preferably black or white) and a collared or monochromatic striped shirt. A pair of tights and brogues tie the whole look together. Think of the mod look and you're set. Now, for the eyes. Grab your favorite liquid eyeliner and draw a curved line that follows your lid. It may look intimidating, but you want to achieve an exaggerated shape to your lid. Next, draw on individual bottom lashes and slap on a ton of mascara. Spider lashes are definitely encouraged. Finally, use your favorite nude lipstick and you're ready to take on the streets of London....in 1965.

#1 Adidas Trainers
After months and months of coveting these shoes, I've finally got my hands on a pair of classic white and navy Stan Smiths. The beauty of these oh so simplistic trainers is how easily they transform your outfit into that effortless Scandinavian/Parisian aesthetic that we're all going for. Whether it's with a casual graphic tee and some ripped up boyfriend jeans or a black tuxedo style blazer and tailored trousers, Adidas trainers make an impact. As so many of us know, trainers have really made an impact on the runways for numerous brands from Alexander McQueen to Céline. Yet, the real statement was made in street style with either classic Stan Smiths or Superstars.

#2 Parisian Chic
Dilemma, you can only wear one style and one style only for the rest of your life. What would you choose? I know, how painful it must be to dress like a PARISIAN every single day!? I think it goes without saying that Parisian chic is so much more than the clothes you wear. It's an attitude and a lifestyle. But, one way to get started would be to channel the aesthetics of Jane Birkin or Francoise Hardy and today's Jeanne Damas. Get yourself a neck scarf, a pair of quality skinny jeans, leather boots, a classic white shirt, a tailored blazer and VOILA! You're a Parisian, my friend. C'est magnifique!

#3 Blazers
Oh how I love me a blazer. They instantly add a 'smarter' dimension to your outfit without looking like you've devoted a lot of time into planning. I can justify my blazer collection (it's only about four, so I'm not going crazy here) from one word and one word only: sophistication. I can't help but feel confident and smart with a blazer over my casual outfit because they instantly add that extra element of polish and structure to your look. Either for a dream job interview or a stroll around the city, blazers tie the whole outfit together while combining femininity and androgyny.
